Emmanuel

He was the Almighty God, laid that night on a bed of straw and wrapped in swaddling clothes.

He was the Bridegroom who would die for his bride in order that he might wed her.

He was the Only-Begotten of the Father, born in flesh to become the First-Born from the dead.

He was the Lion of Judah, clothed in the white fleece of the Lamb of God.

He was the Kinsman-Redeemer, who was not ashamed to call us his brothers.

He was the High Priest, stretching out his arms to offer the final Sacrifice.

He is God with us – now and forevermore.
