I read this account today: "Peter and John answered and said to them, 'Whether it is right in the sight of God to give heed to you rather than to God, you be the judge; for we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.'” (Acts 4:19-20)
Peter and John were being threatened by those in power. These were people who could imprison, torture, or kill them. Yet they replied with confidence and boldness that “we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
This troubled me. Peter and John – though faced with very real threats – could not stop speaking the good news about Jesus. Yet, too often today, we cannot even start.
