Wholly Holy

Writer's picture: Paula MarolewskiPaula Marolewski

As Christ-followers, we have a high calling ... to be nothing less than holy: “As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.’” 1 Peter 1:14-16

Becoming holy in all our thoughts, words, and actions is a journey. It’s a tough journey, but we have a map – God’s Word – and a GPS – God’s Spirit – within us. Today, determine to take a step forward on the journey. For example ...

If you hate someone, take a few minutes to pray for them.

If you have a foul mouth, commit yourself to 24 hours without saying a swear word.

If you struggle with your attitude toward money, make a charitable donation.

Now, make it personal –

“Holy Father, I have a problem with _________________ [name the sin]. Today, I am going to ________________ [name the action] to become more like your Son, Jesus. I know that I can have victory over this sin because your Spirit lives within me.”
